There is a prof here at Clarkson how publishes magazine and uses one of the PC desk top publishing systems, I think Versatype (I don't know anything about how to use it and the name could even by wrong). When I asked him if he had thought about using TeX to do his journal, his response was that he looked at TeX briefly and didn't like the idea of all the control stuck in his text.
