As of version 18.52, RET fails to auto-fill a long line the way SPC does.

As of version 18.51, RET would auto-fill a long line in the way SPC
does. 

[In the above example, I ended the first sentence: d o e s . RET
 while I ended the second: d o e s . SPC RET
 the autofill happened on the SPC; fill column is here ---------------^]

I haven't the time to chase this down just now, but would appreciate
hearing about a fix if it exists.
