What is needed are thoughts and suggestions from people, possibly in other combined Math and CS departments, who have assessed the computing needs of faculty and students, and what their department did to meet those needs. Networking options, number and kind of "labs" for student use, printers in every faculty office - or not?, size and numbers of classrooms, etc. The Dept of Math and CS at UNI has about 30 FTE and graduates 450 Math and CS (combined) majors each year in additon to having a strong teacher preparatory program. (Campus size of 11,000). At the very least, we would like to get in contact with people who have recently considered such problems and what their solutions were.
