Before I order the tape, I would like to hear from people who have gone this route. Does it really work? Are there any significant limitations (other than speed)? How difficult will it be to port to System V.2? Will I be cheating myself out of the best part of the education if I don't run it on the real iron? What about the UNIX-based cross compiler? If I do decide to run minix on a real PC, can I at least do the compiling under UNIX and somehow get the executables to the PC? Or will the output of the UNIX-based compiler only run under the simulator? Any information, hints, warnings, and experience reports will be gratefully accepted.
