(long) Keywords: 256 MB is a lot or not enough Message-ID: <1912@ficc.uu.net> Date: 16 Oct 88 15:55:31 GMT References: <360@elan.UUCP> <2070@cloud9.UUCP> <528@fabscal.UUCP> <1152@mmm.UUCP> Organization: SCADA Lines: 11 I can see an obvious thing to put on a 256mb optical drive... a student's working environment. This is an alternate solution to the problem addressed by Athena or Andrew... the student walks up to any NeXT machine on campus, puts his $50 optical disk in, and reboots. Now it's *his* machine. The workstation becomes the 1990s version of a 1980s floppy-based campus PC. Of course the security problems this would cause a network are obvious... I hope the NeXTwork (heh) has more in common with Athena than NFS. -- Peter da Silva `-_-' Ferranti International Controls Corporation. "Have you hugged U your wolf today?" peter@ficc.uu.net
