Perhaps Amiga-I (for "Insert") would be more appropriate ProWrite (and I believe other prog's as well) uses Amiga-V for paste. I can't think of a mnemonic for this, but X, C, and V are right in a row on a QWERTY keyboard (sorry Dvorak users).
