I doubt Commodore would tell any dealer that (for legal reasons). However, I'm also not real suprised that a lot of 1.2's were copied, instead of bought. I didn't notice Commodore getting upset, no suprise since they weren't trying to make money on it (note: these were my observations at the time, before I was a Commodore employee.
