I like the A1000 better for the above reasons, but one thing I want to add is that expansion devices are becoming more plentiful for the A500 all the time while they are getting harder to find for the A1000. If you can find an A1000 configuration you like, and don't care about expanding it much in the long term, then the A1000 is a better choice. If you want a wider variety of expansion options to choose from, get the A500. There are and will be expansion boxes that will give you A2000 compatibility for the A1000. The Pacific Peripherals SubSystem will provide 3 A2000 slots on the A1000 (if they ever get the thing to market) and you can also get the BusExpander from Bill's Boards (which gives you something like 5 or 6 Zorro II slots plus an XT/AT bus so you can use the Bridgecard). On a side note, I don't know of any product for the A500 or the A1000 that provides the A2000 coprocessor slot. The ASDG 2000-and-1 was the only product that was going to offer this feature, and that looks like it's history. I talked with the folks at ASDG, and they said they might look into producing a smaller-scale Zorro II expansion bus that includes the coprocessor slot, but they didn't have any firm intentions at the moment. --M Michael Portuesi / Information Technology Center / Carnegie Mellon University ARPA/UUCP: mp1u+@andrew.cmu.edu BITNET: mp1u%andrew.cmu.edu@cmccvb "my friends say she's a dumb blonde, but they don't know she dyes her hair"
