In response to the questions in the last days:

AMCGDOS has been written by Arnd Beissner (who's not online here) and
has been licensed to Atari Germany FOR THE GERMAN market. It is fully
compatible with the original GDOS but is faster and seems to be bug-free
(version 3.01a). In Germany it can be obtained by

For the private use, AMCGDOS is PUBLIC DOMAIN. Arnd Beissner looks for
someone in U.S. to coordinate the distribution of his PD-GDOS. Please

GDOS-related topics:
Things like font-scaling aren't done by GDOS, but by the VDI-screen
driver. Switching between different ASSIGN.SYS-files violates the
'philosophy' of GDOS: fonts should be the same for all devices and all
applications (or You can't swap metafiles).
