IBM and numerous other vendors have always bundled BASIC with PC-DOS/MS-DOS and manuals for BASIC should always be within walking distance of a majority of users, certainly no further away than the nearest B.Dalton's store for anyone. The BASIC "play" notation is fairly simple to code and requires no graphics or extra hardware to use. VMUSIC notation is simply that of the BASIC "play" command with a "V" thrown in for voice and notation for tempo removed. Ted Holden HTE
