How about making each chapter a separate pamphlet style thingie?  Then you'd
only have to replace the particular chapter affected.  If the pamphlet is
drilled for three holed binders it would even be greater.  You could pull
out only the chapters you need at the moment and not have to worry about
breaking the binding of a book style version.  Seems to me however that
Adison-Wesley wouldn't like such an arrangement for various reasons and
therefore I don't really expect a change in format to occur.
