Seems to me that if your computer has a unique ID then there is no need to restrict yourself to disks for distribution. You could send e-mail to a distributer with a software order which he e-mails back to you. You run the demo system and see if you like it. THEN you call the distributer and give him your credit card number or what ever. After all, these disks are writeable...
