I'm afraid that the term 'hackers' has gone the way of the term 'celophane'. To continue to fight it would be as futile as 3M continuing to use Celophane as if it were a trademark. >I think the only solution is to choose a new name for Real Hackers. How about I agree completely. >Roz Chast's suggestion of "Data Stylist"? Ugh! Come on!!! Do you call a garbageman a 'Sanitation Engineer'? Ooops, not a very good comparison. Its late, I can't think of a better one. To make it in media you have to have short, simple, *non-elitist* labels. Like Ham, Hacker (sorry), etc. Before I went with Data Stylist, I would go for: Data Ham (maybe with ARRL approval?) Bit Ham (maybe with ARRL approval?) Data Spam :-) Bit Spam :-) {Data,Bit,} Munger Nerd (sorry, but today it has better media connotations, see various TV shows and movies) I certainly don't know... >John Woods, Charles River Data Systems, Framingham MA, (617) 626-1101 > Goooooood Morning Discovery! -Robin Williams Hey, yeah, good morning Robin! That astronaut (female) who was responsible for the media, etc. and managed to think of, much less accomplish, the idea of having Robin Williams call out good morning to the astronauts is one *great* imaginative thinker. I know, wrong newsgroup, but I can't resist: HOORAY Discovery. -- uucp: {decwrl, uunet}!eda!jim Jim Budler internet: jim@eda.com EDA Systems, Inc.
