Actually the film was banned from public theaters but could be shown to private audiences. When I was a lowly frosh we presented the film on campus. The audience was comprised of Hamilton officials and socialites. Many people were obviously upset by what they saw. The times are changing though! Last year a film called "Devil in the Flesh" opened at public theaters in the province. At one point in the film there was a scene involving explicit oral sex.
