I have found several more references. Bellon, B. Construction of Restriction Maps. CABIOS 4(1):111-115 1988 Dix, TI and DH Kieronska. Errors between sites in restriction site mapping CABIOS 4(1):117-123 1988 Allison, L and CN Yee. Restriction site mapping is in separation theory. CABIOS 4(1):97-101 1988 Tuffery, Dessen, Mugnier and Hazout. Restriction map construction using a "complete sentences compatibility" algorithm. CABIOS 4(1):103-110 1988. These are recommended for some very neat tricks. The essence of the tricks is getting around the combinatorics of the problem. -- dan davison/theoretical biology/t-10 ms k710/los alamos national laboratory los alamos, nm 875545/dd@lanl.gov (arpa)/dd@lanl.uucp(new)/..cmcl2!lanl!dd "I think, therefore I am confused"
