The paper I envision needs to deal with such ancient and un- resolved philosophical questions as the nature of consciousness and self-awareness. There is however an increasing amount of work done on these questions from a biological and neurological perspective. The main contributors in this field seem to be D.R Griffin and J.C Eccles. I would appreciate any references, preferrably current scientific articles in ethology, sociobiology, neuroethology, neurobiology, zoosemiotics, and linguistics relating to the question of animal awareness and thinking. Please send me mail as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
