The earlier posting about a program being able to understand jokes
was basically to get a feel for the reactions from the netlanders.
Obviously, there are quite a few problems to overcome in this area
but I perceived those with negative reactions to harbor very pes-
simistic expectations of the future of ai. Perhaps a "joke under-
standing" program should be a suitable replacement for the Turing
