Then why are we all still stuck with brain-dead intel chip archetectures. Reason - Itsey Bitsey Machine Corp made it the overwelming defacto standard inspite of better technology (and NO I AM NOT just harping on the old 68xxx arguement). > Unfortunately, Half-duplex Trail Blazers are the defacto standard for > moving news. Why should any usnet administrator (and yes I am one for a large LAN) stoop to degrading his network performance, increase his phone bills, and reduce his connectivity just for the sake of the almighty "v.32" standard. I think I'm no exeception in saying that my Telebit doesn't owe me a nickel! Even if the thing died today I would be still miles ahead in operating costs and I would buy another in a heartbeat! BTW: I also have a HAYES v9600 on site. While it does nothing to improve my network news performance it does improve my connectivity to some select sites. So, I'm not a "Telebit" fanatic it's just that the Telebit is vastly superior to anything on the market today or in the forseable future for getting MY JOB DONE. Until the "standard" can improve upon what we have, there is no sense in changing. Even if v.32 can equal the Trailblazer+ (which has yet to be proven and is hottly disputed) I can hardly see where v.32 is going to be cost justifiable anytime soon. i.e. It's going to cost me money and give me nothing!). --- Michael H.
