It has 2 sockets, one marked "phone", the other makred "ans. mach." When another extension is lifted anywhere in the house, the answering machine is cut off. The ad also states that if you put one of these suckers on each phone in your home except your modem or fax machine, the phone is dead when the modem or fax machine is off hook.
