NEC corrected the problem by replacing the motherboard. We've had no further problems with the printer (though our Sun3/50 only pushes it at 9600 baud). I'll catch heck for this [:-)] but you might talk with Dean Ramburg at the Bellevue, WA NEC office, (206) 451-0114. He replaced the board, and can probably convince your local people that it is in fact a problem with the printer. A plug for NEC: Because of the support we received from Dean, we'll buy from NEC in the future. Good support is (sadly) too hard to find.
