every map entry on the internet is wrong now, and lots of
connections marked DEDICATED are broken.

In particular you may wish to avoid mailrus<->ames as
as a way to get in and out of the bay area since the
network between us and them is out.  for that matter,
just avoid mailrus entirely for the duration since
all the links off that machine are IP-based.
