I'll appreciate any help. I have brought MINIX 1.1 up on an XT clone which has a 20 meg Seagate ST225 hard disk drive. I reformatted the drive with a 150-cylinder (0-149) partition, then marked the partition as non-DOS with diskfix. I then prepared the rest of the cylinders as a new DOS partition, and set up my DOS software on it. After booting MINIX, I attempted to make a file system using the following command: mkfs /dev/hd1 5099 This failed. The documentation for 1.1, including the READ_ME file in /usr/doc is pretty explicit that the driver if for the IBM hard disk drive only, so I presume that is why failed with the Seagate. Is there in fact a driver or a patch that will allow me to use the Seagate drive? Again, any help will be appreciated. Ted A. Campbell ...ecsgate!dukeac!numen!tcamp ...ecsgate!dukeac!tcamp
