Although, the new iPSC/2 uses a message routine I beg to differ but the Connection Machine is a hypercube consisting of 4096 nodes with each node having 16 1-bit processors connected with a crossbar switch. It uses properties of gray codes for message routing and collision handling when passing data between processors. For more information, read Hillis' book ``The Connection Machine'' or his article in Scientific American (I forget which issue, but it has been reprinted in the new spinoff publication of SA that I can't find at the moment).
