You didn't really try ff clean.font did you? You did ff clean.font ; start FastFonts didn't you? Well, FastFonts doesn't parse the command line too well, and doesn't strip off the trailing blanks from "clean.font ". You can handle this, by just removing the characters on the line after "clean.font." I just tried this, and it didn't work, because I don't have clean.font. I use siesta.font (from the Microsmiths, Inc. release of FastFonts), and this bit me.
