Just a quick note to let you know that SURF works just fine for me.
My set up is:
		A1000
		Escort-2 2 Meg memory on SOTS
		Synergy 30 Meg SCSI HD on pass-thru from the Escort

So the problem you see is not universal to all A1000's.
