Message-ID: <440@hvrunix.UUCP> Date: 26 Oct 88 15:03:13 GMT Organization: Haverford College, Haverford, PA Lines: 18 I tried formatting my GVP hard disk (hc-20) with the format command: Format dh0: ffs Unfortunately, when I subsequently mounted it as a FFS device, I couldn't get a directory. I did have L:fastfilesystem set in my mountlist. It said something like "not a valid file system", or some other error. I then formatted it: "format dh0: ffs inhibit", and it worked fine. Why? Is it normal? BTW, I'm sorry if this has been hashed out before. I just got news today, and I haven't been able to follow any of the possible previous discussion. Also, what is the access time on the hc-20? I thank anybody who helps in advance. Alexander Hinds USENET:ahinds@hvrford BITNET:A_HINDS@HVRFORD
