In fact the entire message in the requester is: Error Validating Disk Diskname Key 25554 already Set If I press cancel, another requester comes up asking to run DiskDoctor. I recall a previous message that mentioned the "Key 25554" problem. Is there anything else I can do besides running DiskDoctor? The nice thing is that although the system does not allow me to WRITE to the disk, I can READ and BACKUP everything from it. I am half through (20M) and so far everything seems cool. I was expecting something like this much earlier (I run CHKDSK on PCs much more often), so I am not really that upset. -- Marco Papa 'Doc' -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= uucp:...!pollux!papa BIX:papa ARPAnet:pollux!papa@oberon.usc.edu "There's Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Diga!" -- Leo Schwab [quoting Rick Unland] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
