FastMemFirst is fine, the problem is that their driver can only handle a limited number of blocks at a time (127000 bytes at a time). It also needs a bit more than the default stack to operate. That's what the changes in the mountlist entry they told you to make do. They seem to understand the problem; I've no idea why they are claiming that FastMemFirst is involved.
