Personally I *always* de-arc a new program onto a floppy with the hard disk disabled (or something fakey there that detects attempts to write - HARDWARE not software). Its not foolproof, but lets not get the idea that last weeks Arpanet virus (really a worm) couldn't happen on ANY machine or network.
