I haven't had that problem on any of my Macs. It sounds like the old "bundle bit set in the Dictionary and/or Thesaurus" bug. Make sure that those files do NOT have their bundle bits set, reboot and try again. All should be well at that point. Ashton-Tate sent out a blurb to registered owners about this problem a few months back. You would have seen this behavior under 6.0 as well since that was when Apple introduced the change in the way bundles were handled in the DeskTop. Timing is a wonderful thing, A-T shipped FullWrite and then, about a month later Apple shipped a new System that showed a glitch in the behavior of the Thesaurus/Dictionary that had been licensed from Microlytics.
