I would like to now what to expect as far as response times for multiple users and how much memory to put on the machine. For decent response for Unix, I consider 4 megabytes of memory a minimum (it will run with less, but). Does anyone know how big the executable for Informix is on the '386? On my mini, it looks like about 150-200K. Will it require seperate copies in memory for each user or is the code shareable? On the mini (which runs slower than a '386) there is a noticeable drop in response time when there are a couple of SQLs running but the drop isn't bad enough to worry about. This application is being moved from a 68010 and on that machine running about 4 SQLs is unbearable and sometimes hangs the machine. Which way is it going to be on a '386? If anyone has any experience with informix under microport on a '386, I should would like to here about it. If there is enough information I will summarize to the net.
