i am using smail 2.5 (w/ the xenix patches) under xenix/286 and for the
most part, it works like a champ!!  however, i am unable able to use
smail with a restricted account (ie: /bin/rsh).  the mail just disappears!!

i have tracked the problem down to the use os popen() in deliver.c.  it
seems that popen() just sends the mail into nowhere!  i have tried setting
the SHELL environment variable to /bin/sh -- this will allow the mail to
work properly but the draw back is that if the user shells out of vi (or
whatever), he/she is now free of the restricted shell.

does anyone have experience w/ popen() under rsh or have a work around.
