I got a note from someone at MIT that said thet they are using pattern recognition to delete mail that concerns Xten in the future, so I guess it is an X11 world now. Unfortunately, DEC still distributes Xten, I have heard X11 is slow (I'm an engineer, speed means more than new interface features here), and X11v3 seems to be right around the corner. But thats not what I'm writing about . . . I have heard that Phonix is working on a PC emulator for the VAXstations I have, but its not out yet. What I'm mildly interested in now is getting an X window to emulate a PC graphics card. I have a way to use the PC as a remote machine (I admit, I haven't tested it yet, but it seems it should work). If I could get the VAX to interpret PC screen output commands as graphics commands for an X window, I could run a "PC in a window", and do cut and paste and other nice stuff, and I wouldn't have to get up from my workstation to use my PC. A letter I received concerning an emulator distributed by Tek implied that this might be possible... So, has anyone out there done it? Any ideas on how it may be done? Thanks again, Rob.
