Everything being relative of course! Plants in Brazil (no pun intended) are among the worst polluters in the world. And did I hear someone say Bhopal? What we need is sweeping legislation which enforces environmental law on companies based at home and operating abroad, as well as local ones. It should be extended to imports too. Any imported chemicals must be shown to have come from plants which meet local environmental standards. It would be a bit difficuly with manufactured goods of course, but something could be done with the major components. There might be a blanket exemption for goods coming from countries with E laws as tough or tougher than our own. What price Free Trade? cheers, neil
