The simple answer is that SIGGRAPH chooses not to publish these notes each year. We do reproduce sifficient quantities for the course attendees and conference attendees who order extra copies. The logistics of printing and inventorying these notes are very considerable and the expense is in excess of $200,000. Additional logistics and expense for publishing course notes after the conference are presently judged to be not worth the value to SIGGRAPH. However, SIGGRAPH is sensitive to the desire to use these notes after the conference. We do distribute full sets of course notes to educational institutions and conference attendees who prepay for the full set. You should encourage your institution or library to acquire such a set. There is an educational discount; see the Computer Graphics newsletter for details. Furthermore, some of the SIGGRAPH course notes are being published by traditional publishers. Course organizers are free to make arrangements on their own and SIGGRAPH works with ACM Press to consider selected course each year. ACM Press will publish a couple of SIGGRAPH'87 course notes and is reviewing some from SIGGRAPH'88. Cheers Richard J. Beach SIGGRAPH Editor-in-Chief Graphics area editor, ACM Press
