The issue I raised when I mentioned about my cousin's case (difficulty contacting him in LSE from UW) has finally nothing to do with any official UK organization (Foreign Office, ect.). It seems that the news that came to me via the route "cousin->his_family->my_family->me" were (a lot) exaggerated. I must thank all of you who answered my question and got involved with it (and contacted either me or my cousin). I really had no intent to critisize any UK organization. And I should have got first-hand information before posting. The truth (that I found with direct communication) is that he received a mail saying that LSE is not a registered user of ??? (he mentioned something about uucp, uk gateway, ukc, etc. but since he is not a computer person, he didn't know for sure). He should, therefore, not receive any more mail (from me), and it is his responsability to notify me, since they did not want to pay the charge. [At least this is what I understood. Hope it's not too far away from truth, this time :-)] Mr. John Owens (john@jetson.UPMA.MD.US) wrote me that "The UK gateway attempts to pass on the costs to the receiver of the message (or the sender if going from UK to US)", so this makes some sense. Of course, I still don't understand what is the problem with my site, since he receives mails from Princeton, Stanford, etc., with no complaints. Any explanations (or directions how I send him mail) are most welcome ! Thanks to all, and, again, my apologies ! -- Alexios Zavras (-zvr-) zavras@cleo.cs.wisc.edu g-zavras@rocky.cs.wisc.edu How Bizarre! Unless you had some very inflammatory/treasonous text in your messages, the only thing I can figure is that they're upset about the (mis)use of the expensive trans-atlantic link. > Is there a way to send mail to LSE ? That's the way. Again, strange.... Good luck! --- +1 301 249 6000 john%jetson.uucp@uunet.uu.net
