CS Dept, Ithaca NY Lines: 15 I am posting this for a friend who doesn't have access to usenet. Respond to HOUPT@SVAX.CS.CORNELL.EDU ---- I am the computer person at a recently formed research institute affiliated with Harvard University. I have an old PDP-11 running RSX operating system. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could hook it up to the networks. I would like to implement something like UUCP, by which my PDP would call up a mainframe and download any messages once a day. Anyway, what I specifically need to know is 1)if there are any DEC and RSX programs designed to interface with networks 2)who one contacts to talk about being assigned a network node (other than the mainframe people at my local university) and 3) if I can't hook up the PDP without switching it from RSX to Unix, whether a microcomputer system running UNIX would work as well.
