Many thanks to all of the people who reply to my query as to whether
the d1.2-1.3.tar.Z file from bugs.nosc.mil had been successfully
transferred and uncompressed/untarred.  It had, and the suggestion
that perhaps I was not doing a binary mode ftp was correct -- I was
not.  When I did, I was successful.  So thanks again.

That file takes quite a long time to ftp from California, so if there
are people in my vicinity who would like to just get a copy from me
(or who don't have ftp access) send me an e-mail.
