The CS department at the U of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign has 5 of them. Needless to say, we like them. The biggest one is only a 10 processor machine, and we use it mostly for general-purpose Unix time-sharing, but it does a fantastic job of that. We use the smaller machines for software development, but plan to upgrade them to a big mulitprocessor when we get our operating system developed. Anybody who is interested in getting a shared memory multiprocessor should at least look at Encore. Ralph Johnson
