After that no more bridge, I tried rebooting via ctrl-alt-del several times then ctrl-amiga-amiga several more times (since my hard drives are on the *bm side, I lose it all when the bridge goes). Also tried cycling power, still dead bridge. Finally, I took Amiga apart, reseated the bridge card in it's edge connector, and pressed a couple of socketed chips in tightly. After I put it back together, every- thing worked fine. This sort of thing has happened before, although it has been a few months since the last time. I have one of the early 2000 / bridge units, I had to take a file to the edge connector of the bridge before it would seat in the motherboard without requiring excessive force (the connectors are misaligned). Possibly all the warping of the motherboard that I did when I was following the computer store's advice ("just lean on it!") has broken something. Anyway, if your bridge starts getting strange, you might try reseating it. Oh, about the file: Think very carefully before you do this! by misaligned I mean that the two edge connectors are closer together on the card than the matching connectors on the motherboard. A little (VERY little, too much and the fingers won't match) off the edge of the one of the bridge board's connectors let me plug it in without having to act like Rambo. I am NOT recommending it! The correct thing to do if you buy a product that is not right, is to exchange it for one that is. -- Phil Nelson at (but not speaking for) Tymnet, McDonnell Douglas Network Systems Company POTS:408-922-7508 UUCP:{ames|pyramid}oliveb!tymix!antares!pnelson LRV: Component Station
