blankety blankety blank...  got my access bits all cleaned up and tried
again to backup the whole thing.  this time it seemed to get all the way
through.  spent a long time updating directories, did NOT give the "file
expected" error but it unfortunately did end by saying "I/O error".  (no
details given.)  I tried restoring the very last file it backed up
(Prodos) to a different place adn that seemed to work, although I
haven't checked that what was restored is right.  Any suggestions
anyone?
