The numbers I've seen for ST sales in the United States range from
250,000 to 650,000 (nice range eh?)  Compute did a survey in
1986 and they came up with 350,000 units sold.  Sam Tramiel has
stated a figure of 275,000 and START magazine seems to use 
300,000 as a benchmark figure.  I have also been told that ST's
go out the door at a rate of 6,000/month, a growing percentage
of those going to MIDI applications.  What all this means, I don't
know.
