I have tried to follow all the discussions on the 1.44M drives, but I don't
recall seing anything about the new Sony drives.

Supposedly, Sony has introduced (quite recently) a replacement for their 2M
drive that has reduced the access time from the ~280mS (are the toshibas and
others this slow as well?) to ~75mS !!!!! :-)
