If you happen to have a favorite word processor or don't
don't want to learn a new one there is a small company
in Madison Wisconsin which puts out a TSR which sits between
you and your keyboard, you and your screen, and you and your 
printer, doing the proper translations to get you both
scientific and foreign language characters.  It works with
nearly all the normal PC word processors and many printers
(laser and non-laser).  It is not super expensive (around
150 for non-lasers, around 225 for lasers.

It works well.  I use it almost exclusively for Russian
word processing although I have used it for a couple of
mathematically oriented papers.
