There have been several good explainations of expanded and extended memory in the last few days. Here goes again. Expanded memory is the bank switched stuff that conforms to the Lotus-Intel-Microsoft Standard. It can be placed in any type of PC from a PC-1 on up. Extended memory is memory from 1M on in AT class or better computers ( 286/386/486(?) ). Extended memory is only directly accessable from protected mode on these processors. There are drivers that emulate expanded memory in extended memory, but I know of none that go the other way. Sorry about the flaming tone, I just wanted everyone to get it right. ( now, of course I will have exactly backwards, if Murphy is around.. ) Hope this helps Eric -- Eric Schnoebelen John W. Bridges & Associates, Inc.
