The reason Map and Sound work on your 512e is because you have the "new" clock chip! As for the new beep, I think it sounds "horrible" on a 512/Plus/SE, since a massive click is produced at the end of it... but it shouldn't be too hard to write an INIT that patches SysBeep to play the "Simple Beep" sound. This is an incredibly perverse thought: an INIT that re-installs something that was considered a bug in System 6.0! I may just give it a shot :-) (What would happen if the "Gimme Back SysBeep" INIT was installed after a "Lemme Keep Simple Beep" INIT?
