I would like to have some input as well. A few people have been inputing for Finder interface improvement. I think one of the biggest gripe on Finder occurs under Multifinder environment. Since Finder was made before multitasking (you can call it whatever, but for me, it IS a form of multitasking), Apple never thought carefully about the use of desktop. Here are a list of thing that I want to see in future Finder interface. (They are mainly cosmetic, and I don't think that they will be impossible to implement) 1. Window-ize the desktop. Once there are several applications opened, all the windows, disk icons and trash can are cluttered up by those windows, and you cannot see them unless you manually resize those windows. I suggest something like what MacPaint 2.0 does (tear-off menu). Within that window, we will see icons for disks and trash can icons. We can use that window just as any other windows in Finder, i.e. dragging disk and file into trash can, etc. This way, we should be able to use the screen (some of us still have 9 inch screens) little more efficiently. 2. Menu bar in application window. The latest McSink's interface and MS Window's interface (heaven forbids!) represent what I mean by. 3. A window menu in Finder (well, we can do with "Windows" DA, but I wouldn't mind if Apple officially blesses it) 4. A window with all processes running. Just like Sun 386i (or NeXT when they come out). We should have an option to collapse all the windows that belong to an application without manually closing all the work. That should clear desktop when necessary without closing all work. There must be other ways to do the above, and I am pretty sure that professionals (in Apple) can make a beautiful interface as they did with the advent of Mac. However, Apple should hurry to upgrade Mac interface to date before losing potential customers to other computers.
