I have run across a *very* annoying problem trying to compact a stack I am writing. Basically, when I first open the stack, it shows 9k free, and 179 total size. Well, all I do is enter the background script (which is very long...), and edit out ONE global variable (about 8 characters). Upon checking the freesize again, I notice it has jumped to 79k! No problem, I figure, I'll just "compact Stack". HC chugs away for about 10 seconds, then reports: "Unable to compact stack". Bummer. Note that if I cut/paste buttons, etc. from another stack BEFORE I attempt to edit the bg, the freesize jumps up some 50k, but can be compacted. Everytime I try to edit out that one global variable....freesize up 70k, and "Unable to compact stack" (even if I "put empty" into the global first..) The problem is not disk space.... I have plenty of room on my harddisk. I'm using a Mac Plus running system 6.0.2 and Finder 6.1. Any help is *greatly* appreciated!! thanks, John Boswell Dept. of Chemistry Dartmouth College Hanover, New Hampster 03755 boz@eleazar.dartmouth.edu
