My thanks to the people who responded to "16-bit Digital Sound: FP or int?".
There were quite a few, too many for individual mention.  You know who you are.

There seem to be many "informed" sources out there!

To summarize:
CD-audio is LINEAR 16-bit.   I *WAS* misinformed.   I am happy that I was
misinformed.  :-) :-)

Please picture a fellow in front of a terminal wearing several eggs.

I'm glad that I got such detailed and soundly based responses.  We're going
to be playing with 16-bit D/A and A/D systems here...  Maybe a dual 16-bit A/D 
(stereo) on SCSI for the NeXT?
