The fastest update frequency is around one per second on a Sun 3/50. It requires a kernel with IPCSHMEM and IPCSEMAPHORE options compiled. The patch to suntools.c is based on Version 1.7 87/05/04. The background changing program is based on stringart. It is readily modifiable to suit your own needs.
